Petitboo may be a new to you pattern designer, or you may only know it as a baby pattern brand. The owner, Allison, has decided to merge her 2 brands Petitboo and E&M patterns into one brand. The clothing patterns have new names, but have the same elements as before.
My favorite things about these patterns is that she loves clean finishes. So wovens normally have french seams so that everything is nice and pretty. Visual learners will love her tutorials because she uses contrasting thread so that you can see where and what you need to do. These designs are fun and modern, while still keeping classic elements.
I decided to go with the Indigo dress, an asymmetrical hem dress with a shirred waist and gathered dolman cap sleeve. Now, in my true fashion, I had to play and do a few of my own things.
1) I used a crepe woven fabric. This is for knits. I used the biggest size 10, for my size 8 girl. Only mess up was not making the neck slightly bigger.
2) I used a band of elastic because my sewing machine hates me.
3) I added an accent bias neck band to do the neck.
4) I added inseam pockets because girls need lots of pockets.
This pattern goes together so fast and easy. This dress too me about 90 minutes to complete. The hem was the trickiest part in a woven. There is also a straight hem option if you don’t fancy the asymmetry.
