It’s that time where we are sewing for the hectic holiday season. It’s supposed to be a pretty cold and wet winter here in California so the chill is definitely getting down to our bones. My daughter needs warm clothes so I was going through how to make her a holiday worthy dress that she will be cozy in.
Now here is my crazy idea. I bought her a bunch of pink blankets last year… To make clothes. It sounds weird and crazy, but they had all these shades of pink that I knew would make great sweaters and pants. But then I thought a fuzzy blanket dress? Maybe? If we fancy it up just right, it will come out right.
Now obviously, Pepto pink isn’t very holiday… But it’s her favorite color. I had the Infinite A-Line dress (that you can find in the Project Run & Play Pattern Shop) and decided to go with the simple A-line style. I made 1 change. One. I cut 3/4 length sleeves and added a gathered bell sleeve. She is all about the bells and it was just the right type of detail to raise it up a notch.
I paired it with her favorite crocheted collar from her aunt, threw on tights, an updo and the right shoes. I think she’s ready to meet Santa at the North Pole in style.
I wanted to make a couple of other styles to show you how diverse this pattern is, but that didn’t happen. So I will have to show you more soon. You can make a drop waist, a gathered waist, simple bodice, ruffle, etc. And this pattern sizing goes from Newborn to 8, but it would be a great staple if she ever decides to make in size 8-16 *hint hint*
Make sure you go to Project Run & Play to check out the whole tour and the shop! There is some amazing talent, as usual.
Thanks for stopping by.
