Ok as I told you yesterday, this week’s plans got trashed! Weather, germs & chaos with a dear friend. But I was able to photograph before Storm Lucifer decided to tear up California some more.
I decided this week needed to about simple basic items in colors & prints I like. I had just enough of the charcoal french terry to make some Hudsons which I hacked to have a moto style like my son’s I made last week. My pattern pieces are already altered to fit how I like them so it is a super quick sew. And in these elements, I can choose to dress them up or down.
I had this Julia Cardigan made out of this bold stripe jersey I found at Walmart. I know. But you can’t beat $4 for the most perfect black and white stripe. I love the fit of this as a more dressed up version of my beloved cocoon cardigan I wear allll the time.
Lastly, I self drafted a tank in this hoarded crepe fabric I have had for years. Black, purple, with butterflies & flowers has been begging for me to make a comfy tank for the warm weather bound to come soon. I used pattern pieces from my bralette I drafted, and widened & heightened it to be more shirt appropriate, added straps and a front & back panel, with an elastic casing under bust and around the back. Voila! I have one of my favorite style of tanks. I am all about “freeballing” my breasts lately so anything that gives me coverage while giving me coverage and support is my buddy so you will probably see a lot of bralette inspired tops for me this summer. Perks of being a stay at home mom, having small breasts and living in places where triple digits rule the sunny months.

I have a few more staple items coming, but they will be tops since I am fresh out of bottom worthy fabric right now.
