This time of year is when it feels like red white and blue has puked everywhere. I know, I know, I am probably the patriotic person’s nightmare. Overkill of any style is simply not my style. I like to use the colors on the girls, but absolutely no stars and stripes. I decided to go with the red white and blue this time. And even have fun with a spot nearby. We have a tradition for 4th of July of going to this town Crestline. They have a parade, fireworks, and are one of those rare small communities in Southern California. Locally owned businesses. Everyone knows everyone. A super laidback pace of life I miss. So this year, we will be back bbqing at the lake, watching fireworks echoing through the lakeside town and enjoying time together as a family. Poor 14 year old is stuck with us still. But at least we are all making some memories together. Onto the sewing, since I sew, it only makes sense to sew some great outfit for the munchkins. I am ecstatic about how it turned out. This baby was self drafted and completed with stuff that was in my stash. Boom! No money spent. No printing required.
Quick details: I made this very swingy dress using a 1 1/2 circle skirts, 1 half circle godet and a ruffle all around. I added an inverted pleat to the front, and knit straps and binding. It is not perfect and took some tweaks to it, but love how it turned out. Baby girl is super excited to have a dreamy, twirly dress. Those ruffles were a pain in thee assssssss, but worth it! Even if I despise ruffles. Shame! Shame!
And a dab!
