Sew What Do I Wear: Valentine’s Edition

Do you do anything special for Valentine’s day? No one in my family really does because it is a somber day for us. But we still love love, hearts, red, so we give the kids a gift and let them get all decked out in their favorite red or pink. Now for me, if I were to have a day out for Valentines day, I would wear something that is comfortable, romantic, sheer, and perfect for my California weather.

I combined 2 Made for Mermaids patterns to achieve this romper I have been wanting to make forever. The top is Mama Daphe. The bottom is Mama Lily in the short length.

I made one muslin, took note where I wanted the waist, adding lengty to the short to accomodate my booty and it was so easy. I did lengthen the ruffle to go longer as well as add more width, but gathered before attaching to bodice, the applying bias tape around as a casing for the elastic. For the fabric, I had this beautiful border print chiffon and I lined the romper in red lining fabric. Oh it feels glorious on!

I love the flow it made. I am still torn on the length of the ruffle since it is kind of covering up my waist. However, I feel sassy and beautiful in this so I know I will wear a lot.
